Synopsis: Officer Courtney Brown approached the vehicle she stopped for allegedly speeding. What followed was completely unprofessional handling of the traffic stop, including using a coin flip app to determine whether to arrest the driver—Sarah Webb—or cite and release her. Despite the app returning the response assigned to ‘release’, Ms Webb was arrested anyway. All charges against Ms Webb were eventually dropped. Video of the incident can be found online.
The two officers had received only verbal counselling before a local television investigative team investigated the incident. After news of the incident went global, Chief Grant terminated both officers.
Outcome: Police Chief Rusty Grant terminated the employment of both officers.
